TAME BY NORM YIP
FEATURING WILLIAM LO (Part 2)

If the first publication explored nudity in the semi-public domain, then this takes us back into the private domain of Norm Yip’s intimate studio in Chai Wan’s industrial neighborhood. The series of images is a collection of images documenting the process of how he photographs men, from simple portraits to nudity.

Minimal props include a thin white-T, water and an assuming antique mirror which lay the ground for eroticism within an unrehearsed brief. There is an intensity from William Lo (羅曉峰), who makes direct contact with the camera lens that both reveals and conceals his inner desires.

The fierce nature of William’s self-confidence in his own body and its attributes are clear. He knows his body and angle well. The last segment of the shoot employs an antique mirror as a backdrop. It is worn over the years, making an ideal foil to William and his brooding haughtiness.
