Year: 2004
Nikon D70, F3.5-4.5 18-35mm and F2.8 28-70mm

These photographs of Ken T were taken with my first digital camera, the D70. The resolution was not very high and it could only deliver jpgs. It was much later that RAW files were introduced to the market. My trust in getting good images with digital were low at the time. However with some careful manipulation in Lightroom, I was able to extract something semi-decent from the files. Since these have been on a CD since 2004, they have held up quite well. I have since converted the jpgs into dng files for safekeeping.

In photographing Ken T, I was really focused on his eyes, and what they were saying. A quiet introverted kind of guy. I never quite knew if he was really there, or if he was ignoring me. The shoot went well and his posing was somewhat static. He knew his body well being that he was a fitness instructor, but his face would lead you to believe he was somewhat unsure of himself. It is my own take on it.

He left Hong Kong for the USA shortly afterwards. And we have not been in touch with each other. It is like that for many of the models I shoot.
