TIM

11 October 2003. It’s been awhile hasn’t it? I know that some of you have been waiting for new guys to appear on my website. Well, it had to be someone approaching me to asked to be photographed. The last while has been maddening doing wedding photography, which has consumed most of my working hours. So here is Tim. My thoughts with Tim was that he had a very natural looking body with very nice proportions. His body was smooth and his legs were nicely shaped, lending itself to capturing body form and composition versus bulging muscles that speak more of veins and ripping lats and triceps.

For this series, I used 2 cameras. The colour ones that you see were taken with my Mamiya 645 using a 80mm/F2.8 standard lens and a 80B filter. Film was Fuji Provia 400F, my favorite film for this kind of work. F-stop was 4.0 or 5.6. The other camera is my Contax RX with 50mm/F1.4 lens again using a 80B filter. I experimented with Agfa RSX II, a 200 ASA slide film, pushed 2 stops. What I got with this film was a slightly yellow-green tint to skin which was rather unappealing. As such I desaturated the colours after scanning them and did some photoshop work to make the images more acceptable to my eye. I used an F-stop of 4.0 or 5.6 and with a shutter speed of 1/30 or 1/15 second.
