The decision to create a publication that exemplified the scope of my work began in 2008. After several unsuccessful attempts at a more commercial direction, I felt a need to create a showcase of my work that touched on all my skills and interests. BEAUX DIGITAL – VANITY is exactly that entity. It combines my keen interest in the digital technology, my architectural graphic sense and my passion in the arts.
Everything that you see in this publication is created from my own vision of what I love and the beauty that surrounds me. My photography of Asian men is what most people associate me with, but it is only the surface. In this edition of BEAUX, I have included photographs of a completely different nature from my work with nudes, and that is the Hong Kong landscape. In Views from Tsim Sha Tsui, I felt compelled to photograph the city from vantage point of Ocean Terminal. Strangely enough, a storm approached, and within minutes, I was caught by nature herself.
In addition to photography, I have included some recent work where I combine acrylics and photography through the use of dye transfers. Appearing much like raw vintage photographs but in color, the paintings convey something highly emotive in my deeper self.
Returning to the topic of Asian men, you will find no shortage of photographs of them in VANITY. I have collected many images from 2007 onward that were never shown on any website and have showcased them here for the first time. In addition, I photographed two sensual young Asian men in a state of dressed-to-undressed. It is my own take on a magazine editorial, but where clothing takes on a very secondary role.
In all, I hope that you enjoy this digital book publication and will help share this with your friends and more.
